Exciting Times Ahead

It’s exciting times at Side by Side Training Centre!! After 7 busy and successful years focussing their services within the Early Years and Schools sectors, Side by Side are now expanding their range of qualifications into social care and health as well as offering Higher National Diplomas.

Joy Scadden and the Side by Side team are delighted to welcome Zoe Terry on board to lead the new CACHE Level 3 Dental Nursing Programme. Zoe has worked locally within dental nursing for almost 30 years and is a well-respected practitioner. Alongside this, for the last 13 years, Zoe has taught and assessed associated qualifications as well as running her own training provision. With her wealth of experience, professional approach and bubbly nature, Zoe will definitely fit in well with the Side by Side team.

Available from September, the L3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice of Dental Nursing is practice-based so leaners will need to be working in or on placement within a dental surgery. The qualification covers the current GCC learning outcomes and skills for Health National Occupations Standards and on completion it will enable learners to register with the GDC.

The new L5 Higher National Diploma programmes will be led by Dr Francisca Veale. The L5 HND Diploma in Advanced Practice in Early Years Education is a ‘hot off the press’ BTEC Diploma, only having been launched this year. It incorporates the Early Years Educator (EYE) criteria so learners achieve EYE eligibility on completion – the content is also mapped to the Early Years Teachers Standards to support (EYTS) progression in the early year’s education sector. Additionally this qualification provides the necessary entry to a ‘top-up’ degree at University.

As for the Level 5 HND Diploma in Health and Social Care, this qualification will provide learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in employment in the Health and Social Care sector as well as enabling progression to an undergraduate degree or related professional qualification.

From October, both qualifications will be delivered over 2 year programmes and teaching/ learning will be a combination of lectures, case studies, group work, quizzes, discussions, information searches and presentations, as well as a form of blended learning utilizing SBS online, a bespoke virtual learning resource.

Finally, Side by Side are thrilled that CACHE has reintroduced a Level 4 qualification into Early Years in the shape of the Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner.  This qualification provides a long-awaited stepping stone for Level 3 practitioners into higher education, embracing the wealth of experience of the Level 3 early years workforce, and challenging them in both their daily practice and theoretical understanding.  This new Level 4 qualification is available NOW.

All the qualifications and courses are delivered at the Side by Side Training Centre in Poundbury, Dorchester in a dedicated training room with IT facilities and resources.
