Every Child is a Beautiful and Unique Being.
We are delighted to welcome Sue Keenan to our Side by Side team as our Play and Inclusion Tutor…. but what is a Play and Inclusion Tutor you may ask?
Well, first it would be useful to understand a bit more about Sue to understand her new role at Side by Side. As you can read in her Our Team biography, Sue’s career began in early years and lead to her working as a SEN coordinator and Portage Worker. From there Sue went on to work in the charity sector at Julia’s House Children’s Hospice as a Play Consultant and whilst here Sue attended Great Ormond Street Children’s hospital to study guided imagery and also gained certificates in equality and diversity and emotional intelligence.

Having worked clinically for so many years Sue now has a desire and enthusiasm to return to her roots of mainstream and early years through a platform that enables her to pass on her knowledge and expertise to the next generation of childcare workers. This decision brought Sue to Side by Side to become our Play and Inclusion Tutor, a part-time role where she supports the learners and staff to promote and embrace inclusion at its highest level.
Sue believes ‘every child is a beautiful and unique being who has the right to quality play within a setting where there are no barriers to learning or reaching their potential.’ At Side by Side, we share this belief and look forward to Sue sharing her knowledge and skills with our learners. Her training techniques are fun and unique, packed with practical nuggets of information, and, most importantly, are aimed at empowering and enthusing the learners to gain the utmost joy for their work within early years and education, to become the most dedicated and inspirational practitioners.
